Did you know that we actually teach our dogs to pull! When they start to pull we reward the behavior by allowing them to go forward. Sometimes we excuse the behavior saying “if he just gets to see the person or dog he will quit pulling.” Problem is this rewards the behavior and leads to more pulling. Instead, when the dog starts to pull don’t reward the behavior by stopping and waiting until the dog softens on the end of the leash and looks back to check in with you.
